Defend Community Integration for People with Disabilities
The right of people with disabilities to live and receive services in the community is under renewed federal threat. The ADA, Section 504, and the Supreme Court’s Olmstead decision remain law — but the federal government has adopted a sharply narrower interpretation of those protections and is moving to weaken community-integration requirements.
What’s at stake: People who rely on Medicaid-funded home- and community-based services, behavioral-health supports, nursing-facility transition programs, and other services could face greater risk of segregation or institutionalization.
